Taiwanese aquaculture firm brings new methods to Guangxi fishing village

Taiwanese businessman Huang Yicheng runs an aquaculture company in Beihai, in China’s Guangxi region.

He first visited Beihai in 2017 and set up the company in a village in Hepu County that year.

The company combines Taiwanese farming methods with local resources to raise valuable marine fish, including grouper and sea bass.

Its facilities include 1,260 mu of fish ponds and a 5,000-square-metre hatchery, alongside cold-chain and water-treatment facilities.

The company says its work has helped address low productivity and limited fish varieties in traditional local farming, and now reaches more than 400 nearby farming households.

It plans to share techniques and train more local fish farmers, while developing cold-chain projects and a tourism business linked to its fish farms.

It also aims to work with research institutions and explore greener and more technology-based farming methods.
