Delhi High Court seeks legal research in Kriti Sanon’s personality rights case

Kriti Sanon has asked Delhi’s High Court to protect her identity from alleged unauthorised use.

Her case includes concerns about her name, image and other identifying features being used without permission, including in AI-generated content and digital impersonations.

The court asked her lawyer for legal research and relevant judgments on what personality rights cover.

The material is also expected to address whether the court’s Intellectual Property Division can hear these disputes, though Sanon’s lawyer said her case raised no jurisdiction issue.

The court wants a broader understanding of the law as more public figures bring similar cases.

Such disputes can involve privacy, publicity rights and the commercial use of someone’s identity.

The case is due back in court on October 29, when the judge can consider the material before deciding what order to make.
