Alejandro Davidovich withdraws from Paris Masters with back problem

Alejandro Davidovich withdrew from the Paris Masters before his first-round match because of back discomfort.

The Spanish player had been due to face French teenager Moise Kouame in Paris on Tuesday.

This is his second recent withdrawal after he missed the Basel tournament the previous week with a stomach virus.

Davidovich has won three titles this season, including the Shanghai Masters 1000, but physical problems have kept him out of several events.

The withdrawal ends his chance to qualify for the ATP Finals, and he will finish his season on the regular tour.

His next target is Spain’s Davis Cup finals in Bologna, where he is one of five players selected by captain David Ferrer.

He now needs to recover in time for the team event, scheduled for November 24 to 29.
