Seven killed in diesel truck fire during fuel transfer in Andhra Pradesh

Seven people died in a diesel truck fire on Saturday in Peechumamidi village, in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitarama Raju district.

The pickup truck was carrying diesel for earthmoving machines used in road construction, and workers were preparing to transfer fuel to another vehicle.

Police said the truck caught fire during the transfer, and the flames spread to a dumper truck and a two-wheeler, destroying all three vehicles.

Police described the blast as an accidental fire and dismissed reports that detonators caused it.

An LPG cylinder inside one of the vehicles later exploded.

The victims included a government school teacher and two migrant workers; their bodies were taken to Anakapalli Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Families are due to receive ₹5 lakh each from the contractor, and officials will help eligible families seek insurance assistance.
