Roosters withdraw Sam Walker's contract offer beyond 2027

Roosters withdraw Sam Walker's contract offer beyond 2027

The Sydney Roosters have withdrawn their offer to extend Sam Walker's contract after the club and the 24-year-old halfback could not agree on terms.

Walker remains under contract with the Australian rugby league club until the end of 2027.

The Roosters had wanted to keep him beyond then, but the parties did not reach an agreement.

From November 1, players whose contracts end after the 2027 season can consider offers from rival clubs, so Walker will be able to test his value elsewhere.

The decision leaves his long-term future at the Roosters uncertain, even though Walker has said he expects to make a decision soon.

He has just made his debut for Australia in the Rugby League World Cup, and Australia is due to play the Cook Islands on Saturday.

My job was to go out and play football. I’m sure on Monday I’ll have a conversation with him, and we’ll sit down and hopefully get something sorted.
