Ballon d’Or organisers investigate bets that predicted top five exactly
Twelve Polymarket accounts predicted the Ballon d’Or’s top five in order, according to an investigation by the French outlet Upside.
The bets concerned the men’s award, presented to Harry Kane at a ceremony in London, ahead of Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi.
The accounts reportedly wagered more than $264,000 and won nearly $200,000 after all five predictions matched the results.
The accounts were recently created and showed similar betting patterns, raising suspicions that confidential results may have leaked before the ceremony.
France Football, which organises the award and is owned by Groupe Amaury, says investigations are under way to establish what happened and who may be responsible.
Groupe Amaury says it plans to file a complaint, while the organisers have also contacted police.
