Brentford refer rugby ball incident at stadium to police

A rugby ball was kicked into Brentford’s stadium from a nearby high-rise during the club’s match against Liverpool.

The Gtech Community Stadium in west London is surrounded by apartment blocks, some with views of the pitch.

The ball landed near the field of play, and no one appeared to be injured.

Brentford called the act dangerous and referred the matter to police, who are investigating to identify those responsible.

The investigation could lead to criminal prosecution, the club said.

On the pitch, Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1, leaving Brentford sixth in the Premier League table.
