New recordings feature claims by INE contractor against former chief

Recordings attributed to contractor José Alfredo Hernández Casillas have surfaced in Mexico, featuring his claims about former National Electoral Institute (INE) chief Guadalupe Taddei.

The clips describe a breakdown in their relationship and disagreements over projects and business linked to the electoral body.

Hernández Casillas, a representative of Cajas Graf, which supplies election materials to the INE, says he had invested in projects and helped build teams there.

He also claims that contracts helped support Taddei’s children, but the recordings do not independently verify his allegations.

Taddei resigned as INE president on October 27 after corruption and conflict-of-interest allegations; she has not responded to the claims in the material described here.

Blanca Yassahara Cruz is serving as interim president, while President Claudia Sheinbaum has called for an audit of contracts, including those from before Taddei’s tenure.

The dispute draws attention to how election-supply contracts were awarded as Mexico prepares for elections in June 2027.
