Two people linked to Jardun jailed without bail on terrorism charges

A Spanish judge ordered two people held without bail on terrorism charges in the Basque Country.

The accused are Aratz Bilbao and Malen Grünig, whom the reports link to Jardun Koordinadora, a radical Basque nationalist group.

Police found maps of former ETA hiding places and lists of Civil Guards in their vehicle.

Investigators also say they seized encrypted devices, satellite phones, police vehicle registration numbers and a copy of a police officer’s phone contents.

The judge cited flight and repeat-offence risks in ordering their detention; one report also mentions concern about possible interference with evidence.

Prosecutors allege offences including membership in a terrorist organisation and possession of weapons or explosives, but the allegations have not been decided at trial.

The two will remain in provisional custody without bail while the case proceeds.
