Gareth Southgate says he does not expect to manage in the Premier League again

Gareth Southgate says he does not expect to manage in the Premier League again.

He left his role as England manager after the team lost the Euro 2024 final to Spain, having led England to two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final.

Southgate says he stopped enjoying even England’s wins toward the end of his eight-year spell in charge.

He has barely watched football since leaving, and says he has not been to a stadium since the 2025 FA Cup and Champions League finals.

He has not managed a club since Middlesbrough, where he spent three years from 2006.

He says he has given much of his life to football and now wants a different period in his life.

He has not announced any plans to return to management, and says he does not see a scenario in which he takes a Premier League job.
