BioWare documentary set for 2027 after studio closure

A documentary about BioWare is planned for 2027, following the closure of the studio behind the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games.

Called *Massive Effect: The BioWare Story*, it is being made by Shane Fennessey and Adam Scorgie for Canada’s Super Channel.

The film will trace BioWare from its 1995 beginnings to its closure, and filming began two years ago.

Its participants include founders Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk and Augustine Yip, along with developers and voice actor Jennifer Hale.

The closure also brought the cancellation of a Mass Effect project, though the documentary will cover more than the studio’s final days.

A festival run is planned before worldwide distribution, which will be handled by UpstreamFlix.

The film is set to reach audiences in 2027, though no specific release date is given.
