Ford hopes to work with Verstappen beyond Formula 1

Ford wants Max Verstappen to race its cars outside Formula 1, as the American company and Red Bull work together in F1.

Ford is interested in Verstappen competing in its GT3 cars or its new hypercar programme, including at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Verstappen is building a racing career beyond F1, with experience in GT3 and interest in endurance racing.

Ford plans to enter a hypercar in the World Endurance Championship next year, but the sources do not say Verstappen has agreed to join.

A switch to Ford’s GT3 car is unlikely before 2028, because Verstappen is expected to remain with Mercedes-AMG in that category next year.

The Le Mans race falls between the Monaco and Portuguese Grands Prix, but no decision about Verstappen racing there is given.

Ford says signing him would be interesting, though its immediate focus is on making its own racing programme successful.

Then, of course, we want to have the best drivers. For us, that would certainly be interesting, let me put it that way.
