Bangladesh consider moving away from spin-first plan for Sylhet Test
Bangladesh are considering a change from their spin-first strategy for the second Test against West Indies in Sylhet, starting November 5.
In the first Test in Mirpur, Bangladesh lost by eight wickets after their spinners took eight wickets, while West Indies’ spinners claimed 16.
Bangladesh’s batters made 272 runs in the first innings and 142 in the second, leaving their bowlers too little to defend.
Sylhet pitches have traditionally helped fast bowlers early and brought spinners into play later, and Bangladesh have won their last two Tests there on sporting surfaces.
The team may pick an extra fast bowler, while Mushfiqur Rahim is set to return from a finger injury.
The series is on the line, and Bangladesh will aim to avoid another costly strategy mistake.
