VANK launches digital project for young people in Japan

South Korean group VANK is making digital content for young people in Japan about issues the two countries share and ways they can work together.

The project will appear on Instagram as two cartoons and two short videos.

One cartoon looks at ageing societies, pairing South Korea’s digital care technology with Japan’s practical care experience.

Another focuses on cooperation in AI and semiconductors, while the videos revisit past solidarity after Japan’s 2011 earthquake and joint cultural projects.

VANK says the aim is to build understanding of South Korean society and encourage two-way exchange, rather than simply promote South Korea.

Japan is the first step in a planned global expansion to find connections with people in more than 200 countries, including in ASEAN, Latin America and Africa.
