Türkiye plans $80 billion for electricity networks by 2035

Türkiye plans about $80 billion in electricity network investment by 2035.

Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Nevzat Şatıroğlu announced the plan at an energy conference in Ankara on Oct.

The money is intended to strengthen the lines and systems that carry electricity safely and efficiently from power plants to users.

Türkiye’s installed power generation capacity reached 127 gigawatts in August, including 80 gigawatts of renewable capacity.

The investment will also include the country’s first high-voltage direct current lines, which can help move electricity across the network.

The government is preparing a national energy plan for 2040, while a recently adopted law is expected to encourage investment in energy storage.

Storage capacity now stands at 495 megawatts, and projects under development could raise it to several thousand megawatts in the coming years.
