Shetland season 11 begins on 12 November, marking Alison O'Donnell's exit

Shetland returns for its 11th season on 12 November at 9pm on BBC One, with episodes also available on BBC iPlayer.

The crime drama is set on the Scottish Shetland Islands and follows detectives investigating crimes there.

Ashley Jensen returns as DI Ruth Calder, alongside Alison O'Donnell as DI Alison “Tosh” McIntosh.

The new case begins with human remains found in a car pulled from the water, leading the team to investigate a local doctor who left the islands nine years earlier.

The six-part season is O'Donnell's final outing as Tosh, a character she has played since the series began.

The BBC says Calder and Tosh will pursue the truth as they investigate the old murder and the people connected to it.
