Three former Bra footballers sentenced over sexual assault of student

An Asti judge sentenced three former Bra footballers over the sexual assault of a university student from Turin.

Fausto Perseu and Alessio Rosa received four years and two months in prison, while Christ Jesus Mawete received three years and eight months.

The case concerned an incident on May 30 last year, when the players were with Bra, a club from Cuneo that had recently been promoted to Serie C. The student said she went to an apartment with Perseu and was assaulted there by him, Rosa and Mawete.

Investigators found the student's account credible, while the players' lawyers argued that she was conscious and free to leave.

Rosa was also accused of sending a video of the incident to a team group chat.

The judge ordered an advance payment of 150,000 euros to the student, with compensation to be decided in civil court.
