Indian stocks fall as Jio Platforms IPO opens for subscription

Indian share benchmarks fell after two sessions of gains, as disappointing company results and concerns about high crude oil prices led investors to sell.

The Nifty 50 closed at 22,889, down 257 points, or 1.11%.

Jio Platforms' IPO opened for public subscription, with the telecom company aiming to raise Rs 30,213 crore.

If completed as planned, it would be India's largest IPO, surpassing Hyundai Motor India's offering.

Investors are also watching company results and announcements, including quarterly earnings, fundraising plans and new orders.

IREDA reported a slight rise in quarterly profit, while Piramal Finance's profit increased 67% from a year earlier.

The Nifty needs to regain 23,000 and then move above the 23,200–23,300 resistance zone to strengthen its near-term outlook, according to a market analyst cited in the source.
