Chinese excavator exports rose 30.4% in the first three quarters
China exported nearly 110,000 excavators in the first three quarters of this year, 30.4% more than in the same period last year.
Exports made up 51.2% of all excavators sold in that period.
Chinese machines are being used at mines and construction projects in countries including Kyrgyzstan and Mozambique, and in homes in Europe and the United States.
Demand is growing as infrastructure projects and mining expand in markets such as Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Buyers are also drawn to quick delivery, product quality and newer electric and smart features.
Electric excavators are gaining ground: a Mozambique coal mine is using 10 large electric machines, and Chinese manufacturers have reported rising overseas orders for electric models.
Companies are building factories and service networks abroad, while training local workers, to support customers after machines are sold.
Further export growth may come from electric and connected equipment, as manufacturers develop these technologies and the support systems they need.
