Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar and Indonesia sign defence cooperation pact

Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar and Indonesia signed the Badr defence cooperation pact in Doha on Wednesday.

The agreement is intended to expand joint weapons production, training and research among the four countries.

It follows a separate defence agreement signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in August, which says an attack on one country will be treated as an attack on all three.

Under the Badr pact, technical teams are expected to identify each country's needs and prepare proposals for joint production.

A board of ministers and defence officials would then decide budgets and production locations.

Joint production facilities are expected to be set up in Turkiye, though the plans still require approval.

The agreement aims to strengthen defence industries and help meet the needs of allied and friendly countries.
