Bank Indonesia says housing incentives helped build more than 115,000 homes
Bank Indonesia says its liquidity incentives sent about Rp118 trillion to the housing sector.
Of that amount, about Rp68–69 trillion went to the Asta Cita housing program, a government initiative.
The funding helped build more than 115,000 homes, according to BI Governor Destry Damayanti.
BI gives incentives to banks that lend to selected sectors, including housing, agriculture and industry.
Destry said each home was estimated to create three to four direct jobs, with further work supported by related businesses and transport.
The housing activity may support jobs beyond construction, including in shops and building-material industries.
BI plans to measure the wider effects with Indonesia’s statistics agency, including links between housing and other parts of the economy.

What people are saying
From the previous KLM, we had 5% of KLM going to the housing sector, which was around Rp118 trillion. Of that Rp118 trillion, around Rp68 to Rp69 trillion went to the Asta Cita housing program.
From those funds, more than 115 thousand homes could be built.
We want to see how effective our policy is.
Later, together with BPS, we will measure the impact of these various policies.
