Two parents arrested after fight at Texas girls' softball game

A dispute over cheering at a 12-year-old girls' softball game in Sugar Land, Texas, turned violent on Saturday.

Police arrested Kiarious and Jazmine Hall, who were attending their daughter's game at Imperial Park.

Witnesses said a parent from the opposing team challenged Kiarious about cheering before pitches, and video showed him hitting the man with a metal water bottle.

The man suffered a fractured skull, broken jaw and brain bleeds and remained hospitalized, while a grandfather who intervened suffered a broken hip and needed stitches.

Kiarious told investigators he acted in self-defense, but court documents said the video did not support his claim; both Halls were booked on assault charges.

Jazmine also resigned from her assistant principal job, and the school district said the incident happened outside school and was unrelated to a district event.
