Bob Dylan’s Zurich concert offered only brief flashes of magic

Bob Dylan played a concert at Zurich’s Hallenstadion, with the 85-year-old singer appearing under a black hood.

Dylan is known for reworking his songs rather than performing them as familiar hits, and many well-known songs were absent or difficult to recognize.

The five-piece band backed him, but often seemed out of step with his performance.

“Black Rider” was the evening’s strongest moment, when Dylan and the band seemed to work together.

Phones were locked in sealed pouches at the entrance, a measure Dylan has also used at earlier concerts.

The show ended with “Goodbye Jimmy Reed” and “Every Grain of Sand,” but the performance remained uneven.

It is unclear whether this was his last stop, and the review expresses hope that his touring will continue.
