X says fake Delhi Police notices sought to block IFF and SFLC accounts
X told the Delhi High Court that an imposter sent notices seeking to block two groups’ accounts on the platform.
The groups are the Internet Freedom Foundation and the Software Freedom Law Centre, which had challenged notices presented as orders from Delhi Police.
X said an internal investigation found the notices were not sent by police.
The platform said the groups’ accounts would not be taken down and that it had filed a complaint with Delhi Police.
The court disposed of the groups’ petitions after hearing X’s submission.
The case raised concerns about fake legal requests to social media platforms that can seek to restrict accounts.
Police have been asked to investigate who sent the notices.

X said an internal investigation found the notices were fake and that it had filed a police complaint.
The notices sought removal of posts and the withholding of accounts, alleging that the posts defamed the RSS.
