Man shot dead by neighbour in Faridabad parking dispute

Police say a neighbour shot Paramjeet Dhankhar dead on Friday night in Sector 21C, Faridabad.

Dhankhar, 42, worked for a private company in Singapore and had arrived in India the day before to celebrate Diwali with his family.

The two families lived in the same building and had argued over parking and a dog defecating in the parking lot.

Police say Dhankhar asked Monu Sharma to move his car from its designated spot after returning from the gym, and Sharma allegedly opened fire with a licensed pistol.

Nine bullets hit Dhankhar, who died at the scene.

Police have arrested Sharma, the main accused, and are questioning him; a case has also been registered against his wife, son, daughter and brother.

The incident has turned a neighbourhood dispute into a fatal shooting, and police say their investigation is continuing.
