Samcheok to build accessible trails and forest facilities at Bonghwangsan

The city of Samcheok in South Korea will redevelop the Bonghwangsan forest recreation area after being selected for a national forest-welfare project.

The plan has a total budget of 2.8 billion won.

It includes a 2-kilometre accessible forest trail, three themed gardens, a nature play area and a forest library.

Decked paths and earth-finished paths are planned to help people with disabilities, pregnant women and older people use the forest more easily.

The project will expand opportunities for forest activities and rest, linking the new facilities with an existing children’s forest experience area.

Samcheok is aiming to complete the work by December 2028.
