Korgun-Kurşunlu road opens in Turkey, cutting journey time to 24 minutes

Turkey has opened the Korgun-Kurşunlu road in Çankırı, a province in the country’s Central Anatolia region.

The 29-kilometre route cuts the journey from 45 minutes to 24, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

The road includes a grade-separated junction, three bridges and a steel culvert, and its wider, upgraded design is intended to improve safety on difficult terrain.

Officials expect annual savings of 560 million lira through reduced travel time and fuel use, and say carbon emissions could fall by 8,800 tonnes a year.

The improved connection links Korgun and Kurşunlu and helps vehicles reach the D-100 highway.

Eight other road projects are under way in Çankırı, according to Uraloğlu.
