Heavy rain and strong winds expected in Istanbul

Istanbul’s disaster coordination center warned of heavy rain and strong winds on Wednesday, November 4.

Showers are expected to intensify between 4 p.m.

and 10 p.m., with northerly winds reaching 40–60 km/h.

The city could receive 15–35 millimetres of rain over the day, while temperatures fall to about 12°C overnight.

The warning follows a broader spell of rain and cooler weather in Istanbul, after temperatures had been around 18–20°C.

Heavy rain and gusts can bring flooding and travel disruption, so residents are being urged to take care.

Rain is expected to ease on Thursday and leave the region on Friday.
