Alcaraz rallies past Fritz, who misses ATP Finals after wasting match points

Carlos Alcaraz beat Taylor Fritz in a three-set Paris Masters quarter-final after losing the opening set.

The Spaniard won 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 in a match lasting two hours and 43 minutes.

Fritz had two match points but could not finish the match, as Alcaraz fought back.

The result sent Alcaraz to his first Paris Masters semi-final, where he will face the winner of Casper Ruud’s match against Nuno Borges.

Fritz needed a win to claim the last place at the ATP Finals in Turin, the season-ending event for top players.

That place went to Spain’s Rafael Jodar instead, while Fritz missed out.

The ATP Finals run from November 15 to 22, and Alcaraz is among the players already qualified.
