Saudi Arabia launches 2026 tree-planting season in Makkah Region

Saudi Arabia has launched its 2026 National Tree Planting Season in the Makkah Region.

Deputy Emir Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the season under the patronage of regional Emir Prince Khalid Al-Faisal.

This is the season’s third edition and is part of the Saudi Green Initiative.

The program aims to expand vegetation, support environmental sustainability and encourage people to take part in tree planting.

More than 7.7 million trees have been planted in the region since 2021, about 24.7% of its goal of roughly 31.3 million trees by 2030.

The program says tree planting can help improve quality of life and build environmental awareness for current and future generations.
