Flávio Bolsonaro attacks Lula’s weekend free-bus proposal

Presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro criticized President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva over Lula’s proposal to send Congress a constitutional amendment for free public transport on weekends.

Flávio said Lula had made promises he would not keep, including the new transport proposal.

Flávio also said he wants to lower the age of criminal responsibility, and claimed the change could pass before he takes office if elected.

A proposal backed by his campaign coordinator would set the age at 16 for most crimes and 14 for drug trafficking and organized crime; a rival proposal from Lula’s Workers’ Party would apply age 16 only to heinous crimes.

Flávio accused Lula’s public security amendment of seeking to centralize control, while the amendment is being considered in the Senate.

A Datafolha poll put Flávio ahead of Lula by 51% to 49% in valid votes in a second-round matchup, and Flávio said his lead was likely larger, but no further election developments were stated.
