Sisi says attacks on Saudi Arabia threaten Egypt’s national security
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Saudi Arabia’s security is tied to Egypt’s during a speech in Cairo on Thursday.
He said harm to either country would affect the other and the wider Arab and Islamic worlds.
Egypt opposes threats to Saudi Arabia and its borders, as well as to the Red Sea and international shipping routes.
His remarks come amid regional tensions and reported attacks involving Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
Sisi said attacks on the kingdom affect Egypt’s national security, and urged stability and reduced escalation.
Egypt and Qatar also stressed the need to stop hostile actions against Saudi Arabia.
Egypt says it wants Saudi Arabia’s security and stability protected, but no further action was specified.
