81-year-old woman found dead in Recklinghausen; suspect arrested

Police were called to a home in Suderwich, a district of Recklinghausen, at about 1 p.m.

on Tuesday.

They found an 81-year-old woman dead in her apartment.

A suspect was arrested at the scene without resistance, police said.

Investigators are treating the death as a possible homicide.

Police and prosecutors have not released the woman’s cause of death, the suspected sequence of events or the suspect’s identity.

The relationship between the suspect and the woman is also unclear.

Bochum prosecutors plan to give more information on Wednesday.
