South Korea’s Lee to launch YouTube show answering public questions

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is starting a YouTube show called “The President’s Y” on Nov.

5.

The programme is intended to answer public questions and explain government policies in a more informal setting.

Lee has already used social media and held news conferences and informal meetings with reporters to communicate with the public.

The first episode, recorded in Seoul, is about 30 minutes long and focuses largely on Lee’s approach to public communication.

Former MBC anchor Son Jung-eun will host and ask questions on behalf of the public.

The presidential office plans to release new episodes every two to three weeks, and says live broadcasts may be considered later.

Officials have not said how questions will be chosen, and one ruling-party politician has questioned whether the president should spend less time on social media and focus more on governing.
