Dutch court increases sentence over fatal Oud Gastel crash
An appeals court in Den Bosch increased Omar E.’s prison sentence to six years and eight months.
The 31-year-old from Roosendaal was convicted over a September 2022 crash in Oud Gastel.
He drove a rented Mercedes at more than 150 kilometres per hour on a road with a 50-kilometre-per-hour limit, then hit a stationary car at 95 kilometres per hour.
Two women and two children died, while one of the three children in the car survived.
The earlier court had sentenced E. to four years, but the appeals court said the deaths of four people made the case more serious.
The court also barred him from driving for 10 years, the maximum period it could impose.
