TVK minister accuses Stalin of leading alleged voter-list manipulation
Tamil Nadu minister Aadhav Arjuna, of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the DMK of voter-list manipulation during a voter-roll revision.
The revision, known as SIR, is an intensive process to check and update electoral rolls, and the Election Commission carried it out in Tamil Nadu.
Arjuna alleged that the DMK worked secretly with the Election Commission and the governing BJP to control the work, claims not independently established in the accounts.
He said 74 lakh voters were removed from Tamil Nadu’s rolls, which he argued weakened voters’ rights; the accounts also cite an earlier removal of more than 97 lakh and the later restoration of about 27 lakh.
Arjuna claimed that young people and women under 30 were targeted, but the accounts provide no evidence to verify that allegation.
He also said the TVK opposed the SIR process and challenged it in court, while the DMK’s response to his claims is not included.
Arjuna said the TVK would continue opposing SIR and promised to later disclose what he called evidence of DMK wrongdoing.

Arjuna said the DMK had worked with the Election Commission and the BJP and controlled the revision process in the state.

Arjuna said the DMK had initially opposed the revision but did not protest when nearly 9.7 million voters were removed in its first phase.
