Documentary follows Taiwanese influencer Fufu through fame and aging
Taiwanese filmmaker Frankie Sin has followed influencer Fufu for nine years for a documentary called “My Silly Flirty Boys.”
Fufu became known for dancing in high heels and for his online channel, where he spoke openly about desire and featured LGBTQ+ performers.
The film follows the personal costs of Fufu’s fame, including loneliness away from the spotlight and his feelings about getting older.
It also reflects Sin’s own struggles with belonging in a gay community where he saw pressure to fit a masculine ideal.
Their stories unfold alongside changes in Taiwan’s queer entertainment scene, including its growth and movement into mainstream markets around the time Taiwan legalized same-sex marriage.
Fufu’s channel is due to shut down this year, and the filmmakers are organizing footage before preparing a rough cut.
The team is seeking funding and international partners to finish the film and plan a worldwide release, with picture lock targeted for the third quarter of 2027.

What people are saying
It began with my own anxiety over my queer identity and feeling out of place within the community’s mainstream standards, which led me to point my camera at a maverick who dared to challenge sexual taboos.
In 2016, I met Fufu, an influencer famous for dancing in high heels. His bold, confident display of desire stood in sharp contrast to my own insecurities and repression. He became a mirror for me.
As two gay men approaching 40 – one losing his spotlight, the other confronting his deepest insecurities – we both face a midlife crisis, learning how to make peace with aging, loneliness, and ourselves.
By placing the personal changes of both men alongside the rise and fall of Taiwan’s queer entertainment industry, the film offers a rare, honest perspective with strong potential for cross-cultural resonance.
