British firm unveils Audi Quattro restomod with RS4 V8

British start-up Audacious Automotive has created a modern version of the Audi Quattro, a classic all-wheel-drive coupe first sold in 1980.

The original Quattro became known for its turbocharged five-cylinder engine and rally success.

The new IV replaces that engine with a 4.2-litre V8 from the Audi RS4, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive.

Its starting version is said to produce more than 600 horsepower, while higher-powered versions are also planned.

Its design draws on Audi’s Group B rally cars, with wide bodywork and a large rear wing.

Audacious plans to build no more than 50 cars, using either a restored Quattro body or a new carbon-fibre body.

Prices start at £350,000, and buyers must also provide an Audi RS4 donor car.

The first example is being built, with its first delivery planned for late 2027.

These components were developed to work together. This technical cohesion is central to the car.

It allows us to offer variants with more than 750 horsepower and engine speeds of up to 10,000 revolutions per minute – that would never have been possible with the five-cylinder.
