Kevin Pietersen says consultant role explains absence from England tour
Kevin Pietersen said he is a consultant for England's white-ball cricket team, not a full-time employee of the England and Wales Cricket Board.
His role as a specialist mentor began earlier this year and is due to continue until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
He did not travel to Pakistan for the tri-series, and was in Delhi for a golf tournament while England played there.
Pietersen said his role does not require him to travel for every match over the next 12 months.
England lost their first three tri-series matches and did not reach the final, despite winning their last league game.
He plans to join England in Australia for a few weeks, where the team is scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is from November 12.
His clarification explains that his absences are part of a consulting role, rather than a change to his position with the team.
