British father fined €3,000 over son’s fatal fall at Cyprus hotel

A court in Paphos, Cyprus, fined British father Joshua Foster €3,000 after his two-year-old son died in a fall from a hotel window.

The boy fell nearly 12 metres from the fourth floor of the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort in Chlorakas on 12 July.

Foster had placed his son on the sill to show him a waterpark, believing the window was closed.

The court heard that Foster lost control of the child, who fell before he could grab him.

Foster, 37, pleaded guilty to causing death through a reckless act.

His lawyer said he had no previous convictions and showed clear remorse; Foster was held in custody for eight days after the incident.

The fine was imposed at sentencing on Friday, and the sources give no further court steps.
