Passengers Try JR Central’s New Supreme Class Shinkansen Compartments

Passengers tried JR Central’s Supreme Class seats at Nagoya Station in an event running through Nov.

8.

The private compartments were introduced on the Tokaido Shinkansen in October, the first time the line has offered them in 23 years.

JR Central describes the service as a higher class than the Green Car, Japan’s first-class seating.

About 12 trains a day offer the compartments, and they have been nearly fully booked.

All tryout spots filled within five hours of bookings opening, with each group given about five to 10 minutes to test the seats and hear about the amenities.

JR Central says same-day tryouts may be available if cancellations occur.

I'd like to travel somewhere far away not for the journey itself, but specifically to enjoy the service in a private compartment.
