Bavarian window and door maker Höhbauer enters insolvency

Höhbauer, a window and door maker in Bavaria, has entered preliminary insolvency proceedings that began on September 22, 2026.

Founded in 1950, the company is based in Luhe-Wildenau and employs about 330 people.

It says rising energy, materials and labor costs, higher interest rates and weaker demand for new construction and renovation contributed to its difficulties.

About 800 customers have outstanding orders, and many have already paid deposits.

The provisional insolvency administrator says nearly all orders can still be completed, mostly at the agreed prices, though some customers may need to pay a moderate extra amount.

Only 10 orders cannot be completed for legal reasons connected with the insolvency.

A search for investors is under way, with the administrator pointing to the company’s skilled workforce and regional market position.
