Gerard Joling is leaving De Toppers after more than 21 years of performing with the Dutch group.
The 66-year-old singer announced his decision on Instagram, saying it felt right but was not easy.
He plans to focus on his television work and solo performances.
De Toppers’ annual concerts at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena have sold out, and the group first performed officially in 2005.
Since 2017, the lineup has included Joling, René Froger, Jeroen van der Boom and Jan Smit.
The group’s next concert series is planned for May, but it is not yet known whether Froger’s treatment for an autoimmune disease will affect those shows.
Joling said he was proud and grateful for his time with the group and had enjoyed performing in such a large arena.
